Dubai’s RTA Sees Record Ridership During Eid Al Adha
During the five-day Eid Al Adha break, which spanned from May 25 to May 29, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) successfully facilitated travel for 8.2 million passengers. The city's diverse transit network—comprising the Metro, trams, buses, marine vessels, and taxi services—proved essential in managing the surge of travelers. The Dubai Metro emerged as the most popular choice, handling 3.3 million passengers across its Red and Green lines, followed closely by taxi services with 2.3 million riders and public buses with 1.73 million. Smaller segments, including marine transport and shared mobility options like ride-hailing and hourly rentals, accounted for the remaining hundreds of thousands of trips.
Beyond the holiday rush, the RTA has seen a massive surge in digital engagement, with users completing over 628 million transactions via its online platforms in 2025. This 13 percent increase in digital activity highlights a significant shift toward virtual services, resulting in a revenue of Dh5.3 billion. With an impressive 96 percent adoption rate across its 105 digital service offerings, the authority continues to see high public approval, boasting a 98 percent customer satisfaction rating. This data reflects the city's broader commitment to integrating seamless public transit with advanced digital infrastructure to improve the urban mobility experience.
