Kuwait Resumes Flights After Brief Airspace Closure Amid Regional Tensions
Kuwaiti authorities have officially reopened their airspace following a two-hour precautionary closure triggered by an Iranian aerial assault involving drones and missiles. The temporary shutdown, which lasted from 4:15 am to 6:15 am on Saturday, forced eleven Kuwait Airways and Jazeera Airways flights to divert to nearby airports in Dammam and Riyadh. According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, emergency protocols were promptly enacted to prioritize the safety of passengers and aviation facilities, and all diverted aircraft have since successfully returned to Kuwait International Airport.
The incident was part of a broader regional escalation that saw ballistic missiles aimed at both Kuwait and Bahrain. While Kuwaiti air defense systems were deployed to engage the incoming threats, Bahraini officials confirmed that their own defenses successfully intercepted the projectiles launched toward their territory. In the wake of the attacks, Bahrain issued a stern condemnation, urging Iran to cease all hostilities and warning that the safety of its citizens remains an uncompromising priority. Authorities across the region have since called for calm as they continue to monitor the situation following the active engagement of hostile targets.
