Qatar Opens National Service Doors to Eligible Residents and Children of Qatari Mothers
The Qatari Ministry of Defence has officially broadened the scope of its National Service program, allowing more individuals to contribute to the nation’s security. A recent ministerial decision, spearheaded by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, now permits both those born in Qatar and children of Qatari mothers to enlist. This initiative aims to foster greater community involvement in national duty, clarifying the pathways for those who were previously not obligated to participate but are now eager to serve.
To be considered for the program, applicants must be at least 18 years old, hold a valid Qatari residence permit, and pass a rigorous medical and interview screening process. Candidates are also expected to maintain a clean record, ensuring they have not been convicted of crimes related to dishonesty or breach of trust unless they have undergone legal rehabilitation. Those interested in taking this step can submit their applications through the Ministry of Defence’s official website by navigating to the recruitment portal and uploading the necessary documentation, including their ID cards, birth certificates, and maternal residency details where applicable.
