Riyadh Air's Expansion: New Daily Flights to Dubai and Global Growth Ambitions
Riyadh Air has officially expanded its operational reach by launching daily non-stop flights between Riyadh and Dubai. The service departs from King Khaled Airport at 2:05 pm, with the return leg leaving Dubai International Airport at 6:30 pm. This move marks a significant milestone for the carrier, which was established in 2023 under the ownership of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund. As the nation’s second national airline, Riyadh Air is quickly scaling its presence, recently securing regulatory approval from the US Department of Transportation to operate flights to the United States.
CEO Tony Douglas is positioning the airline as the most ambitious aviation startup in recent memory, supported by a massive order of 787s, A321neos, and A350s. The carrier’s aggressive growth strategy aims to reach over 100 international destinations by 2030, with plans to serve 22 cities by early 2027. Currently, the airline is building a network that includes cities like London, Cairo, Madrid, and Manchester, while actively pursuing partnerships with global giants like Delta Air Lines. This rapid development is a core component of Saudi Arabia’s broader economic vision to transition away from oil reliance by bolstering the tourism, logistics, and technology sectors.
