Tragedy in Southern Lebanon: Deadly Strikes Follow Ceasefire Agreement
Just hours after a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah officially began, reports from Lebanese state media indicate that at least five individuals have been killed in a series of air strikes and drone attacks across southern Lebanon. Despite the agreement intended to halt the recent escalation of hostilities, residents in the Nabatieh region faced a violent night and early morning as warplanes targeted local infrastructure and homes.
The military action included intense artillery shelling in and around Nabatieh, resulting in the destruction of several residential buildings. This renewed violence comes shortly after the U.S. brokered a truce between the two parties, which was confirmed by officials on both sides and officially took effect on Friday afternoon. The breach of the newfound peace highlights the volatile nature of the region as diplomatic efforts struggle to take hold on the ground.
