Apple Pay Finally Launches in the Philippines

Tue, Aug 4, 2026(2h ago)World

Apple Pay has officially arrived in the Philippines, bringing a new level of convenience to local contactless payments. Apple device users can now securely add their eligible credit and debit cards to their Apple Wallet, allowing them to complete transactions by simply tapping their iPhone or Apple Watch at payment terminals. Every transaction is authenticated through a device passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID, ensuring that security remains at the forefront of this digital transition.

For the initial rollout, Apple has partnered with four major financial institutions: Metrobank, Unionbank, GoTyme, and ChinaBank, with plans to expand to more banks in the near future. This launch follows a broader trend of the Philippines diversifying its financial landscape, which has recently seen the adoption of QR payments and international digital wallets. This move mirrors the recent entry of Google Pay into the Philippine market last November, further solidifying the country's shift toward a more seamless, cashless society.
