Tragic Road Accidents Claim Lives in Oman

Tue, Aug 4, 2026(1h ago)World

A fatal accident recently occurred in the Al Ghaftain 3 area on Sultan Said bin Taimur Road, resulting in the tragic death of one Omani citizen after their vehicle overturned and veered off the road. In addition to the fatality, four other individuals sustained injuries and were promptly rushed to Nizwa and Khoula hospitals by the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority for urgent medical care. The Royal Oman Police Aviation unit assisted in the aftermath by transporting the deceased to the Wilayat of Bidbid.

This incident follows another devastating crash in the Nimr area, where four Omani citizens lost their lives after their vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer. In that case, the victims were transported by the Police Air Wing to their home region, while two survivors remain under medical supervision at Sultan Qaboos Hospital in Salalah. In response to these recurring tragedies, Omani authorities have renewed their urgent appeals for motorists to exercise extreme caution, strictly follow speed limits, and avoid distractions like mobile phone use to ensure road safety for everyone.
