Emirates’ Auckland-to-Dubai Service Ranks Among World’s Longest Flights
Emirates’ direct connection between Auckland and Dubai has officially secured a spot on the list of the world’s ten longest non-stop flights. As the globe’s premier international airline, Emirates continues to expand its reach, currently connecting 137 destinations across 72 countries. This accomplishment highlights the airline's significant role in the ultra-long-haul aviation market, which has seen a major geographical shift over the past two decades. While African airports once dominated the longest-flight rankings, the focus has pivoted toward the Asia-Pacific region and Middle Eastern hubs, which now serve as the primary gateways for global long-distance travel.
Data from the aviation consultancy OAG confirms that Singapore Airlines currently holds the top two spots for the world's longest routes, connecting New York and Newark to Changi Airport. Other industry giants, including Qatar Airways, Qantas, and Air New Zealand, also populate the top ten, showcasing the increasing demand for ultra-long-distance connectivity. Looking toward the future, the industry is bracing for even longer journeys, with Qantas preparing to launch a near 17,000-kilometre direct service from Sydney to London by 2027 using specially configured Airbus A350-900ULR aircraft, further pushing the boundaries of modern aviation.
