DP World’s Inland Logistics Expansion Hits Milestone
DP World has achieved a significant milestone by transporting 500,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) across the GCC via its integrated road and rail network since March. This surge in volume highlights a growing trend among cargo owners who are increasingly turning to inland routes to streamline regional distribution. To keep pace with this demand, the logistics giant has bolstered its infrastructure, currently managing roughly 3,000 daily truck movements and expanding its fleet by 700 vehicles to enhance cross-border and domestic freight efficiency.
To further optimize regional connectivity, DP World has introduced new bonded corridors, linking key east coast gateways to Jebel Ali, Sohar, and the Jeddah Islamic Port. Complementing these routes is a massive new 100,000-square-meter empty container depot in Al Awir, Dubai. By positioning container storage closer to industrial zones, the company is successfully reducing port congestion and unnecessary transport trips. This facility is also strategically designed for future integration with the Etihad Rail network, underscoring DP World’s commitment to providing a seamless, end-to-end logistics solution that extends far beyond the waterfront.
