IndiGo Appoints New CFO to Lead Financial Operations
India’s premier carrier, IndiGo, has announced a leadership transition within its finance department, naming Kiran Thadimarri as the new Chief Financial Officer. Thadimarri, who currently serves as the deputy CFO, is set to step into the role on July 28. He brings a wealth of experience to the position, having previously held roles at major organizations like General Electric and the e-commerce firm Udaan. He replaces outgoing CFO Gaurav Negi, who has held the post since 2022 and will now move into an advisory position within the company.
This strategic change comes at a challenging time for the airline industry, as IndiGo navigates a period of financial pressure. The carrier recently reported back-to-back quarterly losses and has indicated that capacity growth will remain largely stagnant for the immediate future. Compounding these issues are the fluctuating global energy markets; because the airline does not hedge its fuel costs, it remains highly vulnerable to the rising price of jet fuel triggered by geopolitical instability in the Middle East.
