United Arab Bank Sees 6% Profit Growth Amid Strong Deposit Surge
United Arab Bank (UAB) has delivered a solid performance for the first nine months of 2026, announcing a net profit of Dh333 million—a 6% increase compared to the previous year. This growth was largely fueled by a 12% rise in total operating income, reaching Dh648 million, alongside a notable 27% jump in customer deposits, which now total Dh18 billion. The Sharjah-based lender saw significant balance sheet expansion, with total assets climbing to Dh28 billion and a remarkable 61% increase in current and savings account (CASA) deposits, reflecting strong liquidity and customer confidence.
Beyond the financials, the bank achieved a major milestone in asset quality, successfully reducing its non-performing loan ratio to 0.5% from 2.7% earlier this year. CEO Shirish Bhide attributed these results to the resilience of the bank's core business model and emphasized a commitment to future growth through digital transformation and improved operational efficiency. With robust capital adequacy ratios and recent recognition as one of the world’s top-performing banks by Forbes, UAB remains well-positioned to navigate the current economic landscape while continuing to invest in innovative services for its clients.
