PM Modi’s UAE Visit: Strengthening Strategic and Economic Ties
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to meet UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi on May 15 to further solidify the growing strategic and economic partnership between the two nations. This high-level dialogue will center on key sectors including energy security, infrastructure, logistics, and trade, building upon the successes of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). Beyond economic growth, the leaders are expected to address critical regional security concerns, specifically focusing on the stability of maritime shipping corridors like the Strait of Hormuz, which remain vital for global energy supplies and trade flows amidst ongoing regional geopolitical tensions.
This visit holds significant weight as both countries navigate a complex global landscape, with the UAE hosting the largest Indian expatriate community in the world and serving as one of India's most vital trading partners. Following a series of preparatory diplomatic engagements by senior Indian officials throughout April and early May, the summit aims to advance defense, cybersecurity, and counter-terror cooperation. After his stay in the Emirates, Prime Minister Modi will continue his diplomatic tour to Europe, visiting the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and Italy to foster further international investment and strengthen India's global trade footprint.
