Aldar and Mubadala Expand Portfolio with Dh918 Million Masdar City Square Acquisition
In a significant expansion of their collaborative real estate footprint, Aldar Properties and Mubadala Investment Company have finalized a Dh918 million deal to acquire Masdar City Square. This strategic move, executed through their joint venture established in 2024, brings the total value of their shared portfolio in Masdar City to an impressive Dh4.7 billion. The newly acquired complex, which spans over 47,000 square meters of leasable office space, is nearly fully occupied by prestigious tenants, including the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence and the Department of Energy.
The acquisition reinforces the joint venture’s commitment to supporting Abu Dhabi’s transition toward a knowledge-based, sustainable economy. Designed to meet stringent LEED Platinum and WELL Gold standards, Masdar City Square integrates cutting-edge energy efficiency, such as passive cooling and solar technology, to align with the UAE’s net-zero goals. With this addition, the partnership now oversees over 158,000 square meters of commercial space and 1,400 residential units, further cementing the area’s status as a premier global hub for innovation, clean energy, and advanced research.
