UAE Shoppers Increasingly Embrace AI for Automated Spending
A recent study from Checkout.com reveals that 54 per cent of UAE consumers are now comfortable delegating their shopping tasks to artificial intelligence. These tech-savvy shoppers are turning to AI "super shoppers" to handle everything from price comparisons and product reviews to managing grocery lists and travel bookings. While adoption is currently led by high-income earners and men, the trend reflects a broader cultural shift toward digital-first convenience. With over half of the population shopping online at least weekly, the integration of AI is expected to accelerate as more people look to streamline their daily purchasing habits.
However, this transition toward automated commerce hinges heavily on consumer trust and the demand for seamless, secure transactions. While 96 per cent of shoppers prefer "invisible" payment methods that operate in the background, concerns over data privacy and transaction security remain the biggest hurdles to widespread adoption. Nearly two-thirds of consumers prioritize safety above all else, with many willing to abandon their carts or switch brands entirely if they encounter payment security issues. As the UAE continues its push toward a cashless digital economy, businesses must balance the demand for fast, convenient technology with the robust security measures necessary to earn and keep their customers' loyalty.
