UAE Capital Markets Show Robust Growth and Regulatory Maturation
The UAE’s capital markets have demonstrated significant strength throughout the first nine months of 2026, underscored by a 43% surge in the number of licensed firms and a 64% increase in accredited financial professionals. This expansion, coupled with a combined market capitalization of Dh3.7 trillion across the Abu Dhabi and Dubai exchanges, highlights a thriving financial ecosystem. Investor confidence remains high, with foreign participation accounting for nearly half of the Dh408 billion in total traded value, while the local investment fund sector saw its assets under management climb to Dh28.6 billion.
Behind this market stability is a more aggressive regulatory stance by the Capital Market Authority (CMA), which has prioritized investor protection and transparency. By implementing rigorous new federal laws and enhancing its supervisory powers, the authority has significantly ramped up enforcement, resulting in a substantial rise in financial penalties and processed complaints. Beyond oversight, the CMA is actively modernizing the landscape through initiatives like the new Virtual Assets Regulatory Framework and the adoption of Basel III standards, ensuring that the UAE remains a resilient, competitive, and secure hub for global investors.
