Remraam Residents Offered Compensation Amid Temporary Evacuation Orders
Residents of Dubai’s Remraam community are facing significant upheaval after being informed that they must temporarily vacate their homes to facilitate long-term remediation work. Dubai Holding Community Management (DHCM) confirmed that these measures are essential for structural safety and quality maintenance, with the displacement period expected to last between 16 and 20 months. To assist with this transition, management has introduced a compensation package that calculates payouts based on the RERA index for the specific unit type, alongside a relocation allowance ranging from Dh7,000 for studios to Dh16,000 for larger three-bedroom apartments.
While the community management emphasizes that they are working closely with local authorities to ensure a smooth, compliant process, many residents are grappling with the logistical and financial strain of the news. Some homeowners have expressed concern over ongoing service charges, mortgage payments, and the stress of finding new housing while dealing with other personal obligations. Meanwhile, those not directly affected by the evacuations are expressing apprehension regarding the potential impact of long-term construction, including noise and dust pollution. Despite the frustrations, many residents acknowledge that the structural improvements are a necessary, albeit inconvenient, step toward ensuring the community's long-term safety and value.
