UAE Launches 12,000 Air-Conditioned Rest Stops for Delivery Riders
To combat the harsh summer heat, the UAE is once again rolling out a vital support initiative for delivery riders, featuring over 12,000 air-conditioned rest stations stocked with essential amenities. Now in its fourth year, this campaign is a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (Mohre) and various public and private partners. These facilities are specifically designed to provide relief for workers during the midday work ban, which runs from June 15 to September 15, prohibiting outdoor labor under direct sunlight between 12:30 pm and 3:00 pm.
Recognizing the unique nature of the delivery sector, where workers are constantly on the move, the initiative integrates technology to keep riders safe. Drivers can easily locate the nearest rest stop using interactive maps on their mobile devices, allowing them to seek shelter while managing their delivery schedules. Companies are coordinating closely with their staff to decide whether to continue operations or pause during these peak heat hours. By combining these rest points with broader awareness programs and safety inspections, the UAE continues to prioritize worker welfare and uphold high standards of occupational health across all economic sectors.
