Dubai Police Urges Residents to Use Only Licensed Domestic Help
Dubai Police is reminding residents to prioritize safety by exclusively hiring temporary domestic workers through government-licensed agencies. As part of a new awareness campaign, officials are urging families to verify the identity of any staff member before letting them into their homes. To prevent potential theft or security breaches, residents should keep valuables, cash, and important documents securely locked away. Furthermore, authorities emphasize the necessity of keeping children and the elderly under constant supervision, advising against leaving them alone with anyone who has not been thoroughly vetted through official channels.
This initiative follows a rise in recruitment scams, including incidents where unsuspecting residents have lost significant sums to fraudulent social media advertisements. Beyond public warnings, the UAE government is taking firm action against illegal operations, with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation recently closing dozens of unlicensed recruitment agencies and penalizing hundreds of violations. Dubai Police is encouraging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behavior using the "Police Eye" feature on the official Dubai Police app or by contacting 901 for non-emergency assistance, reinforcing the idea that home security is a collective responsibility.
