Dubai’s Summer Work Initiative: Flexible Scheduling Leads the Way
New data from the Dubai Government Human Resources Department (DGHR) reveals that the "Our Flexible Summer 2026" initiative has been a resounding success, with flexible start and end times emerging as the most popular choice for staff. Covering over 24,000 employees across 49 government entities, this approach accounted for 54 percent of all implemented arrangements. High levels of compliance were reported, with 95 percent of workers successfully adhering to their new schedules and 99 percent of participating organizations confirming they effectively managed service delivery and communication standards during the rollout.
The program, which evolved from a successful 2024 pilot, allowed individual departments to customize their work models to fit specific operational needs—ranging from customer-facing service sectors to high-discipline legal environments. Officials highlighted that the initiative not only bolstered productivity but also achieved an impressive 98 percent satisfaction rate among employees. Moving forward, the DGHR intends to leverage these insights to further refine flexible work policies, ensuring that the government remains adaptable and responsive to the evolving professional needs of its workforce.
