Dubai Announces Weekend Traffic Diversions on Oud Metha Road

Fri, Sep 11, 2026(1h ago)UAE

The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has scheduled a temporary traffic diversion on the slow lane of the bridge connecting Oud Metha Road toward Abu Dhabi and Port Rashid. This change will take effect starting at 11:00 PM this Friday and will remain in place until 6:00 AM on Sunday. The brief closure is necessary to facilitate ongoing development and infrastructure improvement works in the area. Motorists are encouraged to plan their trips ahead of time and pay close attention to posted road signs to navigate the area safely and avoid potential delays.

These efforts are part of a broader initiative to modernize the local transport network, which recently saw the opening of a new 260-meter tunnel connecting the Dubai–Al Ain Road to the Oud Metha Service Road. With the capacity to handle 1,200 vehicles per hour, the tunnel is a key feature of the ongoing Oud Metha Road and Al Asayel Street Development Project. As this expansive project nears completion, the RTA continues its work on 4.3 kilometers of new bridges and 14 kilometers of road upgrades, which are ultimately expected to boost the total capacity of Oud Metha Road by 50 percent.
