UAE Expresses Hope for Resolution Following Algeria’s Severing of Ties

Fri, Sep 11, 2026(1h ago)UAE

The United Arab Emirates has officially responded to Algeria’s sudden decision to cut diplomatic relations, expressing a strong desire for this move to be only a temporary setback. Shortly after Algiers ordered the Emirati ambassador to depart within 48 hours, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement emphasizing its commitment to fostering positive international relationships. The UAE highlighted the deep-rooted cultural and social connections between the two nations, noting the thousands of Algerian nationals who live and work within the Emirates, and reaffirmed its continued respect for the Algerian people.

Senior Emirati diplomat and presidential advisor, Anwar Gargash, took a firm stance on the situation, suggesting that international diplomacy should be defined by transparency and direct communication rather than cryptic signals. Gargash remarked that successful foreign policy relies on clear interests and the sound management of disagreements, noting that ambiguity serves no productive purpose. This diplomatic friction follows earlier tensions regarding aviation agreements, yet the UAE remains focused on maintaining a constructive approach to regional relations despite the current impasse.
