Abu Dhabi Prepares for Academic Year with Massive Clean-up and Safety Drive

Fri, Sep 11, 2026(45m ago)UAE

Ahead of the new academic year, the Abu Dhabi City Municipality has wrapped up an extensive improvement campaign targeting 191 educational facilities, including schools, universities, and nurseries. The initiative spanned 254 kilometers of roadways, where maintenance crews focused on clearing 700kg of waste, repainting nearly 1,000 meters of kerbstones, and refurbishing pedestrian walkways. Beyond aesthetic upgrades, the team prioritized road safety by repairing potholes, upgrading lighting, and improving visibility at junctions to ensure a secure environment for students.

In addition to exterior maintenance, the municipality conducted rigorous safety inspections on water infrastructure within these institutions. Expert teams inspected drinking water coolers, storage tanks, and swimming pools, utilizing strict quality checklists to verify chemical balance, filtration efficiency, and overall hygiene. Ahmed Fadhel Almehairbi, Director-General of the municipality, emphasized that these efforts are central to the city’s commitment to community safety and student well-being. Looking ahead, authorities have pledged to continue these routine inspections throughout the year to ensure that high standards of health and safety remain consistent across all educational campuses.
