Sharjah Announces Free Parking for Hijri New Year Holiday

Sun, Jun 14, 2026(2h ago)UAE

In celebration of the upcoming Hijri New Year, Sharjah authorities have announced that public parking will be free for motorists on Monday, June 15. While this applies to most standard public parking zones across the city, drivers should remain vigilant, as the exemption does not cover smart parking facilities or the blue-signposted zones. These designated areas operate on a 24/7 basis and will continue to charge fees regardless of public holidays or weekends.

Across the wider UAE, similar measures are being implemented to provide convenience for commuters during the break. Abu Dhabi’s Mawaqif parking and Darb toll gates are set to be free for the holiday, and Dubai typically follows suit for standard parking zones, excluding multi-storey car parks. As the nation prepares for this official public holiday, residents are reminded to check specific signage before parking to avoid unexpected fines, ensuring a smooth and stress-free long weekend.
