UAE's NCM Denies Viral Rumors Linking Floods to El Niño

Sat, Sep 12, 2026(1h ago)UAE

The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) in the UAE has officially dismissed recent viral social media content that predicted severe flooding and abnormal weather patterns due to the El Niño phenomenon. Officials emphasized that these circulating videos are misleading and urged the public to disregard unverified claims. Clarifying the science behind the weather, the NCM noted that El Niño is primarily a Pacific Ocean event with only indirect effects on the UAE, and current conditions across the country remain stable and under constant surveillance.

While the NCM acknowledged that this year’s El Niño is particularly strong and may contribute to above-average rainfall, they stressed that any significant weather developments would be communicated through official, transparent channels long before they occur. The authorities have issued a stern reminder to both residents and media outlets to avoid spreading rumors and to rely exclusively on verified reports. By maintaining a 24/7 monitoring system, the center remains committed to public safety and ensures that accurate, timely information is always the priority for the nation.
