UAE introduces visa-on-arrival for eligible Filipino travelers
Starting June 25, the United Arab Emirates has officially implemented a new visa-on-arrival policy for Filipino citizens holding Philippine passports. This updated travel regulation applies specifically to travelers who already possess a valid residency permit, visa, or Green Card issued by a select list of countries, including the United States, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, and member states of the European Union. This move highlights the deepening diplomatic ties between the Philippines and the UAE, providing a more convenient entry process for the large Filipino community living and working abroad.
To take advantage of this privilege, travelers simply need to present their qualifying documentation at any UAE airport upon arrival. Two primary options are available: a 14-day visa for Dh100, which can be extended for an additional two weeks for a fee of Dh250, or a non-extendable 60-day visa for Dh250. Given that the UAE hosts approximately one million Filipinos, this streamlined policy is expected to significantly benefit those traveling to major hubs like Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah for business or leisure.
