Abu Dhabi's Future of Transport: Air Taxis and Integrated Mobility
Abu Dhabi is on the cusp of a major transformation in how residents travel, with plans to introduce commercial electric air taxi services as early as the end of this year or early 2025. Dr. Abdulla Hamad Al Ghfeli, Acting Director-General of the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC), announced that the emirate is finalizing its infrastructure to support this ambitious vision. Through partnerships with companies like Archer Aviation, the city is positioning itself as a global leader in eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing) technology, moving beyond initial test flights toward full-scale operational status.
Beyond aviation, the ITCânow operating under the banner of Abu Dhabi Mobilityâis developing a unified digital platform designed to streamline the entire commuting experience. Much like the governmentâs TAMM interface, this new app will allow users to plan, book, and pay for journeys across land, sea, and air transport seamlessly. By leveraging artificial intelligence to predict traffic patterns and manage infrastructure demand, authorities are shifting from reactive management to a predictive model. This holistic approach aims to connect the entire transport network, ensuring that as the city grows, its mobility ecosystem remains efficient, sustainable, and entirely user-focused.
