UAE Braces for Intense Peak Summer Heat
The National Centre of Meteorology has announced that Thursday, July 2, will see generally fair weather with some low-lying clouds drifting over the east coast. As the UAE transitions into its most sweltering phase of the year, residents can expect light to moderate winds reaching speeds of up to 35kmph. Thermometers in internal regions are predicted to climb as high as 47ºC, while coastal hubs like Abu Dhabi and Dubai will hover around 41ºC and 39ºC, respectively. Humidity levels are expected to fluctuate significantly, ranging between 25 and 75 percent across these major cities, while marine conditions in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman remain relatively calm.
This shift in weather signals the arrival of "Jamrat Al Qayth," the traditional peak of summer heat, which the Emirates Astronomical Society notes will run from July 3 through August 10. During this intense 40-day window, the Arabian Peninsula typically experiences its most extreme temperatures. While coastal zones will battle heat between 41ºC and 43ºC, inland and desert areas are bracing for highs that frequently exceed 46ºC, with the potential to spike past 50ºC during the most severe heatwaves.
