Trailer Safety Defects Remain a Top Priority in Dubai

Thu, Jul 2, 2026(3h ago)UAE

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) recently wrapped up a comprehensive safety campaign focused on heavy vehicles, identifying several recurring issues that threaten road safety. During the first half of the year, inspections conducted across the emirate revealed that many trailers are operating with significant hazards, including worn-out tyres, malfunctioning lighting systems, and a lack of necessary reflective markers. Furthermore, officials noted instances of unsafe cargo loading, which presents a serious risk to other motorists sharing the road.

To address these concerns, the RTA engaged with approximately 1,500 heavy vehicle drivers, providing them with essential guidance on technical standards, valid licensing, and professional permits. Beyond physical inspections, the initiative aimed to foster a culture of compliance by offering digital safety resources in multiple languages, including Arabic, English, and Urdu. According to Saeed Al Ramsi, the director of licensing activities monitoring, these efforts are a crucial component of the RTA’s long-term strategy to decrease accidents and elevate overall security across Dubai’s transport network.
