US Diplomatic Missions in UAE Halt Consular Services Amid Regional Tensions
The United States has officially suspended all consular appointments across its diplomatic missions in the United Arab Emirates for a three-day period, starting July 13. Both the US Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General in Dubai issued an advisory confirming that all scheduled appointments through July 15 are cancelled due to the volatile security environment currently unfolding in the Gulf region. Officials have explicitly instructed American citizens not to visit the embassy or consulate during this timeframe, assuring them that staff will reach out directly to facilitate the rescheduling of these meetings.
Beyond these immediate cancellations, the diplomatic outposts continue to operate under an "ordered-departure" status, which has resulted in the relocation of non-essential government personnel. Consequently, access to routine consular services remains highly restricted. Citizens who are in urgent need of passport renewals or other essential documentation are encouraged to utilize the official US Citizen Services Navigator online to request assistance, as staff are currently managing inquiries primarily through email correspondence. Regular visa processing services in the region also remain suspended until further notice.
