Abu Dhabi Police Warn Residents Against Salary-Period Cyber Scams

Mon, Jul 27, 2026(2h ago)UAE

As salary disbursement dates approach, the Abu Dhabi Police have issued a stern advisory cautioning residents against a surge in sophisticated electronic fraud. Authorities are urging the public to exercise extreme caution, noting that scammers are actively exploiting this time of the month to target unsuspecting individuals. To stay safe, residents are advised to steer clear of suspicious web links, ignore unsolicited promotional offers, and interact exclusively with verified, official organizations to protect their financial assets.

The police highlighted that fraudsters are employing a wide array of deceptive tactics, ranging from fake job postings and fraudulent residency services to bogus investment schemes and websites that mimic legitimate government portals. These criminals often pressure victims into downloading remote access software or making upfront payments for non-existent goods and services. To prevent falling prey to these schemes, officials stress the importance of keeping banking passwords and OTPs strictly confidential. If you encounter any suspicious activity, it is vital to report it immediately through the Aman service at 8002626, as proactive reporting is essential in the ongoing fight against cybercrime.
