UAE Grants 90-Day Grace Period for Space Sector Compliance

Mon, Jul 27, 2026(1h ago)UAE

The UAE Space Agency has officially launched a 90-day grace period, beginning July 27, for all individuals and organizations working within the space industry to bring their operations in line with Federal Decree-Law No. (46) of 2023. During this three-month window, entities are urged to secure the necessary permits and licenses required to operate legally. Osama Al Shehhi, Director of the Space Licensing and Permits Office, emphasized that obtaining formal approval is now a mandatory requirement for anyone involved in space-related activities, noting that this regulatory shift is vital for fostering a safe, competitive, and sustainable industry that attracts both innovation and investment.

Failure to meet these new standards will result in legal consequences once the deadline passes, as the agency intends to enforce strict supervisory measures against those who remain non-compliant. This initiative is a core component of the National Space Strategy 2031, designed to bolster the UAE’s industrial capabilities and support the growth of space-focused startups. Current operators are strongly encouraged to reach out to the UAE Space Agency through official channels as soon as possible to begin their registration, ensuring their business activities are fully aligned with the nation's legal framework for the future of space exploration.
