RTA Unveils Temporary Access at Dubai Mall Metro Station

Wed, Jul 29, 2026(45d ago)UAE

The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced a temporary staircase at the Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall Metro Station to keep commuters moving while major expansion work is underway. Located at Exit 1, this new access point is part of a broader effort to manage foot traffic as the area undergoes significant development. Officials are advising all visitors to follow the posted signage and floor maps, while station staff remain on-site around the clock to provide guidance and ensure everyone reaches their destination smoothly during this transitional phase.

This construction is part of an ambitious project to boost the station's capacity by 65 percent, eventually allowing it to handle up to 220,000 passengers daily. By expanding the total floor area and adding new escalators, elevators, and additional fare gates, the RTA aims to eliminate bottlenecks and improve the overall flow for commuters visiting Downtown Dubai. While the bus and taxi service road will remain closed until the end of 2026 to facilitate these upgrades, the authority has implemented a comprehensive traffic management plan to maintain reliable access to one of the city's most critical transit hubs.
