UAE Extends Support to Japan Following Devastating 7.1 Magnitude Earthquake

Wed, Jul 29, 2026(55m ago)UAE

The United Arab Emirates has officially conveyed its heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Japan following a powerful 7.1-magnitude earthquake that struck the island of Kyushu. Through a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the UAE expressed deep sympathy for the families of the 13 individuals who lost their lives and offered prayers for the swift recovery of those injured in the disaster. The government emphasized its unwavering solidarity with Japan as the nation grapples with the significant loss of life and the widespread destruction of property caused by the seismic event.

The earthquake, which hit on July 28, triggered fires, collapsed homes, and left tens of thousands of residents without essential services like electricity and water. Rescue operations remain intense, particularly in the Kumamoto region, where a tragic explosion at a local shopping mall and a structural collapse at a paper factory have hampered relief efforts. With over 9,000 people currently seeking refuge in emergency shelters across Kyushu, the scale of the crisis remains significant. As Japan—a country frequently tested by seismic activity—works to clear the wreckage and locate missing survivors, the international community continues to stand with them in this time of immense challenge.
