Getting Married in the UAE: A Simple Guide to the New Online Marriage Contract Process

Fri, Aug 7, 2026(3h ago)UAE

Getting married in the UAE has become significantly more convenient thanks to the Ministry of Justice’s new electronic marriage contract system. Available across all federal Sharia courts, this digital platform allows couples to handle everything from submitting applications and scheduling appointments with officiants to paying fees online. By utilizing the UAE Pass for authentication, the entire process—which once required heavy paperwork—can now be managed digitally, with the final approved contract delivered directly to the couple via email.

To get started, applicants simply need to visit the Ministry of Justice website, log in with their UAE Pass, and input the necessary details for both parties and witnesses. While the core steps remain similar for everyone, Muslim couples coordinate directly with an authorized officiant, whereas non-Muslim applicants will meet with an authentication judge to finalize their civil marriage contract. Regardless of the route, all applicants must have their Emirates ID and a medical fitness report ready. With a nominal federal fee of Dh50, this modernized system offers a seamless, paperless experience for couples looking to formalize their union.
