UAE Launches Summer Health Drive to Protect Delivery Riders
To combat the intense summer heat, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has teamed up with Keeta to roll out a vital safety initiative for delivery workers. Throughout August, 5,000 health kits are being distributed to riders, featuring essential items like cooling towels, handheld fans, and medical supplies. Beyond physical protection, the campaign provides on-the-spot health screenings and educational consultations to help workers recognize the signs of heat exhaustion and stay safe while navigating the emirate's demanding climate.
With the delivery sector expanding rapidly—now encompassing over 70,000 riders in Dubai—the RTA is emphasizing the importance of hydration and regular breaks. Officials noted that even minor dehydration can significantly impair a rider's decision-making and reaction speeds on the road. By combining these direct support efforts with ongoing safety programs, the authorities aim to build on the progress made in recent years, which has already seen a downward trend in delivery motorcycle accidents, ensuring a more secure environment for those keeping the city's services running.
