Elon Musk’s The Boring Company Secures $3 Billion to Expand UAE Tunnel Network
Elon Musk’s infrastructure firm, The Boring Company (TBC), has successfully secured $3 billion in Series D funding, a massive investment round led by UAE-based entities. This financial backing, which brings the company’s total valuation to $23 billion, will pave the way for an ambitious project to construct over 150 kilometers of tunnels across the Emirates. This new deal marks a significant expansion of the company’s footprint in the region, building upon the previously announced Dubai Loop initiative.
The initial phase of the Dubai Loop is already taking shape, with preparations for the 6.4-kilometer pilot route currently underway. This section will feature four key stations connecting major landmarks, including the Dubai International Financial Centre, the Dubai Mall, and the Burj Khalifa. With precast concrete operations moving forward, the project will ultimately utilize 25,000 heavy-duty segments to complete the structure. Supported by major investors like Shamal Holding, along with global venture capital heavyweights such as Sequoia Capital and A16Z, this collaboration signals a transformative shift in the UAE’s urban transportation landscape.
