UAE Bolsters Global Diplomacy by Joining Pacific Islands Forum as Strategic Partner

Sat, Sep 19, 2026(1h ago)UAE

The United Arab Emirates has officially strengthened its international reach by becoming a Strategic Partner of the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF). This development was formalized during the 55th PIF Leaders’ Meeting in Koror, Palau, where the UAE joined an influential group of 12 existing partners, including the United States, China, Japan, and the European Union. Represented by Minister of State Noura bint Mohamed Al Kaabi, the UAE’s new status underscores the country’s dedication to fostering long-term diplomatic and economic ties with Pacific Island nations.

This partnership serves as a natural evolution of the UAE’s existing efforts to support Small Island Developing States, particularly in areas like climate resilience, sustainable development, and renewable energy. By securing this formal platform, the UAE intends to accelerate collaboration in digital transformation, trade, and energy transition. As highlighted by Minister Al Kaabi and Envoy Omar Shehadeh, this initiative reflects a shared vision for regional prosperity, promising a more structured approach to building connectivity and resilience across the Pacific region in the years to come.
