Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, the Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, has officially unveiled the Jawaher Al Qasimi Centre for Humanitarian Innovation at Gadjah Mada University in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Backed by a $1.6 million investment—contributed by The Big Heart Foundation, NAMA Women Advancement Establishment, and the university itself—the initiative aims to bridge the gap between academic research and real-world humanitarian needs. The center will focus on developing scalable solutions for critical issues such as food security, climate resilience, and the empowerment of women and children, transforming scholarly work into tangible community impact.

The project will operate through two primary pillars: a collaborative headquarters for research and innovation, and a "Living Humanitarian Lab" spanning two hectares, dedicated to agricultural and community-based testing. By fostering a multidisciplinary approach, the center will host experts, support social incubators, and manage an endowment fund to ensure long-term sustainability. Ultimately, this partnership seeks to evolve into a regional hub for Southeast Asia, leveraging Gadjah Mada University’s extensive network to refine practical innovations that address systemic challenges and improve lives across the region.
