UAE Launches Oral Health Screenings for KG1 Students
The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) has introduced a new dental screening initiative tailored specifically for Kindergarten 1 (KG1) students in public schools. By collaborating with the Ministry of Education and Emirates Health Services (EHS), the government aims to detect and address oral health concerns, such as tooth decay and gum disease, before children transition into primary education. Families can conveniently access these check-ups at various EHS-run health centers or private medical facilities, ensuring that dental wellness becomes a standard part of early childhood healthcare rather than a reactive measure taken only when pain occurs.
This initiative underscores a national shift toward preventive medicine, aiming to instill long-term healthy habits in children from a young age. Officials emphasize that oral health is deeply connected to a childâs overall development and their capacity to learn, making early detection a key priority. By aligning with World Health Organization standards, the program seeks to provide a seamless support system that includes follow-up care and health awareness, ultimately ensuring that students remain healthy, engaged, and ready to succeed in their academic journey.
