CBSE Announces Full Fee Refunds for Grade 12 Re-evaluations

Sun, May 17, 2026(96d ago)World

In a move aimed at addressing student concerns regarding the recently implemented On-Screen Marking (OSM) system, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has declared that it will provide a full refund of re-evaluation fees to Grade 12 students if their marks improve. This "student-friendly" initiative comes as a direct response to widespread dissatisfaction among candidates who felt their board results did not accurately reflect their performance. By implementing this policy, the board aims to reassure students that it remains sensitive to their academic concerns and is committed to ensuring fairness in the grading process.

Beyond the refund policy, the CBSE has also lowered the costs associated with administrative services, including obtaining scanned copies of answer booklets, verification of marks, and the re-evaluation process itself. While the board continues to champion the OSM system—praising its ability to foster transparency, accountability, and a reduction in human error—many students remain skeptical, blaming the new digital framework for lower-than-expected grades. As the debate continues, the board is encouraging students to follow the official guidelines if they wish to challenge their results and seek a formal review of their exams.
