A Judicial Victory for Digital Expression: Delhi High Court Orders Restoration of Cockroach Janta Party’s X Account
A Delhi court has officially ordered the Indian government to restore access to the X account of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), bringing an end to a month-long blackout. The government had previously blocked the account, arguing that its content posed a risk of inciting unrest surrounding the high-stakes NEET-UG 2026 medical entrance exam, which was marred by controversy following a widespread paper leak. The resolution came after the federal government signaled it had no further objections, prompting the court to authorize the unblocking.
The CJP, known for its satirical identity as a voice for the unemployed and disillusioned, has been at the forefront of recent protests calling for the education minister’s resignation. Despite the favorable court ruling, the account remained inaccessible to users in India as of Tuesday evening. Founder Abhijeet Dipke celebrated the development as a significant triumph for digital rights and free speech, especially notable given the movement's massive online reach—which significantly dwarfs the social media following of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party.
