Deadly Israeli Strikes Across Gaza Leave At Least Six Dead
At least six Palestinians were killed and numerous others sustained injuries following a series of Israeli airstrikes and gunfire incidents across the Gaza Strip on Tuesday. Health officials reported that the violence spanned several locations, including Khan Younis, Gaza City, and Rafah. Among the casualties, an airstrike in the Mawasi area of Khan Younis claimed the life of one man and injured two children, while another attack near a displaced persons' encampment in western Gaza City resulted in further fatalities. The Israeli military claimed these operations were directed at militants, with reports confirming that a senior leader of the Popular Resistance Committees, Waheed Abu Salem, was among those killed in Khan Younis.
The ongoing violence highlights the fragility of the region despite a U.S.-mediated ceasefire, which both Israeli and Hamas officials have frequently accused the other of breaching over the past eight months. Since the truce was established, the death toll has continued to climb, with thousands of casualties reported and the vast majority of Gaza’s two million residents displaced into makeshift tent cities. As Israeli forces maintain control over a significant portion of the territory—defying calls for withdrawal—the humanitarian crisis deepens. With Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu insisting on a continued military presence to create a buffer zone, the prospects for a lasting peace remain increasingly uncertain.
