Four Crew Members Survive Mid-Air Collision at Idaho Air Show
An aerial demonstration took a frightening turn this past Sunday when two U.S. Navy E/A-18G Growler jets collided mid-air near the Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho. The incident occurred around 12:10 p.m. MDT during the highly anticipated Gunfighter Skies Air Show. Fortunately, all four crew members aboard the two aircraft were able to eject safely before the jets went down. Navy officials have confirmed that the aircraft belonged to the Electronic Attack Squadron 129, stationed at Whidbey Island, Washington.
While the cause of the collision remains under investigation, local authorities have cordoned off a segment of State Highway 167 to facilitate the recovery and ongoing inquiry. This weekend’s event marked the first time the air show had returned to the area in eight years. As officials from the 366th Fighter Wing continue to manage the scene, they have promised to provide further updates as more details emerge. For now, the focus remains on the investigation, and authorities expect the affected road to remain closed for several days as teams work to secure the crash site.
