Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif to Visit China for High-Level Talks

Thu, May 21, 2026(46d ago)World

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to embark on a diplomatic visit to Beijing, running from May 23 to May 26. During this four-day trip, the Prime Minister will engage in comprehensive discussions with Chinese leadership to strengthen the enduring bilateral ties between the two nations. While the official agenda focuses on shared regional concerns and deepening the partnership, the international community remains attentive to whether the ongoing instability in the Middle East will be a key topic of the dialogue.

Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun confirmed the visit during a recent press briefing, emphasizing China’s backing of Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts. Beijing expressed support for Pakistan’s potential to act as a fair and balanced mediator in the current regional conflicts. As both nations continue to seek avenues for de-escalation in the Middle East following recent military strikes, this visit highlights their joint commitment to promoting peace and stability in an increasingly volatile global climate.
