UAE Diplomatic Advisor Estimates Even Odds for US-Iran Deal
Anwar Gargash, a senior diplomatic advisor to the UAE president, recently stated that there is a "50-50" chance of securing a peace agreement between the United States and Iran. Speaking at the Globsec forum in Prague, Gargash expressed concern that Iranâs historical tendency to overplay its hand during negotiations could once again lead to missed opportunities. He emphasized that for any potential deal to be truly effective, it must go beyond a simple ceasefire and address the fundamental drivers of regional instability.
Gargash also issued a stern warning regarding the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz, noting that the region cannot afford another round of military escalation. He cautioned that allowing the strait to be politicized or used as leverage would have dire consequences for global energy security and international trade. Urging European nations to pay closer attention to these developments, he argued that maintaining the waterway as an open, neutral channel is vital to preventing long-term economic fallout and ensuring stability for the global community.
