Saudi Arabia Successfully Concludes 2026 Hajj Pilgrimage
Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of the Makkah Region, has officially declared the successful conclusion of the 1447 AH Hajj season. Representing regional and national leadership, the Prince extended his gratitude to King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, highlighting the seamless organization and high-level security that allowed over 1.7 million pilgrims from 165 countries to perform their rituals in safety. This year’s operation underscored the Kingdom’s refined capability to manage massive crowds, ensuring a tranquil and spiritually fulfilling environment for worshippers despite the logistical challenges of hosting such a significant global gathering.
As the pilgrimage drew to a close, thousands of faithful began their journey home on Friday, navigating the final days of the event amidst intense seasonal heat. The gathering took place against a backdrop of regional instability, as ongoing geopolitical tensions have created a complex security landscape. Notably, the number of Iranian pilgrims saw a significant decline, with only 30,000 individuals making the trip—a drop attributed by state media to the prevailing "wartime situation." Despite these external pressures, the Saudi authorities maintained a steady focus on their commitment to hospitality and safety, successfully facilitating the rites for all attendees throughout the holy season.
