UAE Poised to Surpass 5 Million BPD Oil Output Following OPEC Exit
The United Arab Emirates is set to become a significant force in global energy markets as it aggressively ramps up oil production following its departure from OPEC. According to a recent report by the International Energy Agency (IEA), the UAE is aiming to break free from previous quota restrictions to fully capitalize on its vast natural resources. Projections suggest that the nation’s total oil output could climb to approximately 5.2 million barrels per day by 2027, marking a substantial year-on-year increase and positioning the country as a primary driver of non-OPEC+ supply growth.
To fuel this ambitious expansion, the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) has committed a massive $55 billion to various growth projects scheduled for 2026 through 2028. This long-term strategy includes critical infrastructure developments, such as a new West-East pipeline designed to bypass the Strait of Hormuz and effectively double export capacity through Fujairah. While official targets remain flexible, leadership has indicated that capacity could theoretically reach as high as 6 million barrels per day if market conditions warrant such a shift, demonstrating the UAE's strong resolve to cement its status as a leading global energy supplier.
