Abu Dhabi Sovereign Fund L’imad Moves to Nearly Full Ownership of AD Ports Group

Wed, Sep 16, 2026(1h ago)Business

Abu Dhabi’s sovereign investment arm, L’imad, is set to solidify its control over AD Ports Group, pushing its ownership stake past the 98.5% threshold. This shift follows a successful voluntary tender offer executed through its subsidiary, the Abu Dhabi Developmental Holding Company (ADQ). The offer period, which ran from mid-August through mid-September 2026, has met all necessary conditions, with the final settlement and official transfer of shares expected to be completed by October 9, 2026.

This strategic move places AD Ports Group firmly at the core of L’imad’s expansive logistics and infrastructure portfolio, which already includes key assets like Aramex and Etihad Rail. To incentivize shareholders, L’imad offered a significant premium on the company’s share price—an attractive proposal that followed an impressive 88% surge in AD Ports' second-quarter profits. With top-tier financial and legal advisors like Rothschild & Co. and First Abu Dhabi Bank facilitating the transition, this consolidation signals L’imad’s ongoing commitment to dominating the region’s maritime and industrial logistics landscape.
