Guwahati Set for Direct International Connectivity to UAE
Assam is set to expand its global footprint as Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma recently announced that Air India will launch direct, non-stop flights from Guwahati to Dubai and Abu Dhabi starting August 4. This development marks a significant milestone for the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, which already facilitates travel to Singapore, Thailand, and Bhutan. By adding the UAE to its network, Guwahati is rapidly evolving into a pivotal transit hub, bridging the gap between Northeast India and the international community.
Beyond the UAE routes, the state government is actively working to establish direct flight connectivity with Vietnam, signaling an ambitious push to boost tourism and trade. This momentum is further supported by a recent shift in international perception; several European Union member states have officially relaxed travel advisories for Assam. Following similar positive moves from Japan and Australia, this decision reflects rising global confidence in the regionâs stability and safety. With these strategic infrastructure improvements and strengthened diplomatic ties, officials expect a surge in investment, business collaboration, and tourism throughout the state.
