Indian Travellers Offered Exclusive UPI Discounts at Dubai Duty Free

Thu, Nov 5, 2026(1h ago)Business

Indian travellers passing through Dubai International Airport and Al Maktoum International Airport can now take advantage of a rewarding new shopping perk. Through a collaboration between NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL) and Network International, visitors from India are eligible for a 10 per cent discount—capped at Dh100—when they complete their purchases at Dubai Duty Free using the Unified Payments Interface (UPI). To participate, travelers simply need to activate the "UPI International" service within their existing banking apps, allowing them to make seamless payments directly from their Indian bank accounts without the hassle of carrying foreign currency.

This initiative is part of a broader push to increase the accessibility of Indian digital payment systems across the UAE’s thriving retail and hospitality landscape. By integrating UPI at popular locations like Dubai Duty Free, as well as at retailers like Lulu Hypermarket, authorities are streamlining the travel experience for the millions of Indians who visit the country for business and leisure. As UPI continues to expand into more supermarkets and travel-centric businesses, it solidifies the growing financial connectivity between the two nations, providing a faster, more convenient way for tourists to shop for everything from luxury watches to electronics.
